EM™ Fert Enhance

ENQUIRE FOR PRICING

EM Fert Enhance is a microbial inoculant that enhances fertiliser efficacy and increases the biological activity of the soil. EM Fert Enhance has been carefully fermented using our liquid microbial inoculant EM and has been designed to be blended with fertiliser.

EM Fert Enhance (EM Dry) is a microbial inoculant that enhances fertiliser efficacy and increases the biological activity of the soil. EM Fert Enhance is a Soil Enhancing mixture of quality natural materials which have been carefully fermented using our liquid microbial inoculant. These natural materials provide a ‘home’ for the microbes allowing prolonged activity. The function of the microbes in EM creates a more efficient use of added nutrients, generating a better growth response from fertiliser inputs. They do this by solubilising nutrient compounds to make them available for uptake by the plants root system; this also includes compounds previously unavailable to plants. In addition microbial activity is stimulated in the soil to contribute towards improved plant growth.

Research has shown that this dry inoculant combined with fertiliser can assist in:

  • Stimulating nutrient transfer in the soil
  • Increasing the soil organic matter content and available nutrients
  • Providing nutrients and stimulatory compounds to growing plants
  • Improving the soil porosity and permeability
  • Increasing the micro-biomass of the soil

How to use

EM Fert Enhance has been designed to be used exclusively with fertiliser. The reasons for for this that it guarantees coverage across the paddock/orchard and it provides a food source for the microbes. It can be used with organic and biological fertilisers or with conventional NPKS blends.

Applications of EM Fert Enhance

Using EM will improve crop and pasture yields and enhance fertiliser performance. Crops can be treated frequently during the season with an accumulative effect apparent. The below applications outline the many ways EM can be applied to enhance your farms productivity.

Fertiliser

  • EM Fert Enhance (DRY) at 5-15 kg/ha with your fertiliser mix
  • EM Fert Enhance with fertiliser at drilling

Reduce your N use with EM

  • EM Fert Enhance (DRY) at 5kg/ha with dry/granular N

How can I purchase EM Fert Enhance

    Customer Testimonials

    • “Visually there was an improvement on top of the soil but the improvement below the ground certainly changed my mind. The rooting depth improved and over the summer it was noticeable how much longer the grass held on. The plants came out of the drought much quicker than in the past.”

      Mark Nichols Dairy Farmer, Northland
    • “Within 3 or 4 weeks we saw day and night amazing results from using EM. EM has been a game changer for me and my farmers and every time we’ve used it we have seen a great response.”

Tony Johnston, Nutrient Advisor/Farm Consultant, Avoca Lime Company, Northland
    • “It’s been a game changer on my farm especially since all we have to do is blend the EM into our fertiliser and let the microbes do the rest. “

Russell Rudd – Sheep, Beef, Deer and Cropping Farmer, Canterbury
    • “We started with using the liquid EM with good results; one was a measured 17% increase in a fodder beet crop. But since EMNZ came up with the solid EM that can be added to fertilise, it has become easier and more versatile so we have started including it in all of our base fertiliser blends. It’s great at helping to make nutrients more available.”

    FAQs

    What is EM?

Effective microorganisms or EM are mixed cultures of beneficial microorganisms that can be applied as inoculants to increase the microbial diversity of soils and plants which, in turn, can improve soil health, and the growth, yield, and quality of crops.

    How does EM actually work?

There is documented scientific evidence to indicate that EM cultures can

    (a) suppress soil-borne pathogens,

    (b) accelerate the decomposition of organic wastes and residues,

    (c) increase the availability of mineral nutrients and useful organic compounds to plants,

    (d) enhance the activities of beneficial, indigenous microorganisms, e.g., mycorrhizae,

    (e) fix atmospheric nitrogen, and

    (f) reduce the need for chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

Actually, EM tends to simulate the "rotation effect," a term used by agronomists to describe the regeneration of beneficial soil microorganisms and suppression of harmful ones which results from crop rotation.

    Is EM an organic product?

Yes, EM is certified organic by BioGrow NZ and can be used in all types of organic systems.

What can EM be used for?

EM has a huge range of uses around the home, garden, farm, business, or industrial zone. Today EM is used in many systems pertaining to agriculture and environmental management. These range from crop and animal production systems, to livestock and aquaculture units. EM is used widely in environmental management for decomposition and more importantly for recycling of wastes, both solids and liquids.

The application and use of EM technology in NZ is wide and varied:

    • From crops like peas, wheat, linseed to onions, potatoes, carrots and beans.
    • From sheep, cows and deer, to pigs and chickens
    • From wine grapes and olives to saffron and lavender
    • From recycling food waste in restaurants and schools back to gardens
    • From household food waste to larger office blocks and Universities collecting lunchtime food waste.
    • From small composting toilets in holiday homes to large composting toilets in mountain chalets for trampers and mountaineers.
    • From controlling odours at commercial and large municipal composting sites to controlling odours and improving water quality at vineyards treating their own wastewater.

Whilst initially the use of EM was confined to Agriculture, in recent times the growth sector has been vineyards and waste management. Visit the industries section of this website to find out more about EM's uses.
